USAG GYMNASTICS PROGRAM

The USAG Gymnastics Team at The Gymnastics zone is our competitive gymnastics program. This program is for gymnast who want to compete.

The Gymnastics Zone competes through USA Gymnastics which is the national governing body for gymnastics in the United States. The mission of USA Gymnastics is to encourage participation and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of gymnastics. The programs governed by USAG are: Women's Artistic, Men's Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampoline & Tumbling, Acrobatic, and Group gymnastics.

Level 4,5 & 6 are compulsory levels. This means that all of the gymnasts in the same compulsory level will perform basic skills in the written routines, with compulsory floor music.

Each level has a higher difficulty of skills to be performed on the balance beam, floor exercise, vault and uneven bars. USAG provides the compulsory routines. Level 7 through 10 are optional levels, this means the gymnast has mastered the basic skills, and is ready to choose her own skills and music to create her optional routines.

About the USAG program at The Gymnastics Zone

Our gymnasts start competing in level 4, and once they have mastered the skills required for each level, they will move onto the next level. Gymnasts must master the skills in their current level before progressing.

Our USAG Gymnastics Zone team members will be required to attend summer practices and will gradually learn their skills and routines throughout the summer and fall. The girls practice about 9 to 11 hours a week, all year so it is quite a commitment!

During the competition season the girls will compete at other gyms in Illinois. These competitions require meet fees that we are asked to pay per gymnasts, which could also be paid out of fundraisers. The USAG members participate in several competitions during the seasons and will be scored on their performance. A qualifying score will need to be met to compete at the state meet at the end of the competitive season. The competition season usually runs from late fall through early spring.

The girls gymnastics team members are required to purchase the gymnastics team leotard and warm ups for the competition season. We will have fundraisers throughout the season to help lower the cost. Each gymnast will also need a USAG membership number to compete, which will be applied for in August through USA Gymnastics.

Being a part of our USAG gymnastics team is a commitment that takes time and dedication. Our gymnasts practice nine to eleven hours a week and are expected to attend all practices. We have high expectations for team girls and they are expected to work harder than most. We want nothing but success for our team girls so we strive for them to be the best they can be.

How to become a part of our competitive team

Anyone interested in joining our program can be tested or do a trial class. The gymnast joins the team during practice to have a ‘trial class’ where their skill level can be evaluated. There are a few basic requirements needed to tryout for the team. Practice times and prices are available at the front desk and/or on the website. If you are interested in joining the team or need more information, contact Miss Debbie or Miss Becky at 1-847-838-4775. We hope to see you soon!

GOOD JOB
to all of our gymnasts that competed this year! We are proud of your hard work and we are looking forward to a great 2010-2011 season!
